Why an audit
Many checks test a few questions once, in one system. AI answers change each time a question is asked, so one test is a snapshot rather than a result.
A one-off check
A handful of questions in one system, often in a logged-in account with memory. The outcome depends on chance and on your own history with the system.
The 21x audit
30 non-branded questions, six systems, each asked 3 times, logged out with memory off. Every answer is assessed on mention, position, sentiment, source and facts.
The difference is repeatability. When the audit is repeated with the same settings, a change in the outcome means something.
How it works
You explain what you sell, who buys it and who you compete with. 21x writes 30 non-branded questions and fixes the list of competitors in advance. English-speaking markets are measured in English, with questions as English-speaking customers ask them; the Dutch market is measured in Dutch.
21x checks whether AI crawlers can read your site. A blocked crawler can explain a low score before any other factor is considered.
The questions go to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Microsoft Copilot 3 times per question. Logged out, with memory off: 540 answers.
Each answer is assessed on five points: mention, position, sentiment, source and facts. That shows how you are named, and whether what is said about you is correct.
You receive a released report with a measurement card. Stan Vreuls then takes you through the findings and the first steps that follow from them.
The measurement card
Example with fictitious data. Every report includes a measurement card, so anyone can see how the figures were produced and repeat the audit.
Without a measurement card, a percentage cannot be checked or compared with a later measurement. With one, the next audit uses exactly the same settings.

AI systems differ in market share and in how they answer. Both differences show up in the data.

An audit in ChatGPT alone would miss almost half the market. And a system that never names companies needs a different approach from one that nearly always does.
Questions
In substance, none. Both terms describe measuring where AI systems mention a company, and how. 21x uses AI visibility audit because it says what is measured.
A question that contains your name tests whether a system knows you, not whether it recommends you. Buyers who do not know you yet ask without a name. Those are the questions that bring in new customers.
A logged-in account with memory reflects your own history with the system. Logged out, the answer is closer to what a new customer sees. 21x records this setting on the measurement card.
Yes. For English-speaking markets, 21x measures in English, with questions phrased the way English-speaking customers ask them. For the Dutch market, it measures in Dutch.
You decide. You can act on the report yourself, with your own agency, or have 21x build what scored weak. A monthly re-measurement is optional and shows whether that work moves the answers. The packages show what can follow the audit.
Not from the audit alone: it measures, it does not change anything. Whether mentions increase depends on the work that follows and on the systems themselves. 21x does not guarantee mentions or positions.
